Lisa Yong has over 10 years of global experience spanning Asia, Europe and USA, in various creative fields such as furniture, product and fashion design. As Trend Director at Motorola's Advanced Concepts Group, Lisa led the socio-cultural trend research program to innovate on the company's future product portfolio. Prior to Motorola, she was with Philips Design working on a wide range of projects from concept scenarios for new business strategies to visual trend research and analysis. She also co-led an advanced design research into the future of living in Asia, creating new business opportunities for Philips. To round off her global experience, Lisa has also spent some time in Milan designing furniture with Isao Hosoe's studio and in Singapore as a sampling coordinator with Esprit de Corp.
Currently she is the driving force behind Y Vision, the creative research arm of Y Studios LLC, a full service San Francisco-based design consultancy with a diverse portfolio of work ranging from consumer products, fashion footwear to interactive user interfaces and visual graphics. Y Vision plays a complementary role in providing a research-based foundation to inspire innovation in product development and visual communication projects.
As a co-founder of RED Network (www.red-net.org), Y Studios LLC is also extending its multicultural sensitivity and insights to help Western companies develop culturally appropriate design solutions and business strategies for the Asian markets. Y Vision has the ability to tap into its Asian resources and connections to offer a more insightful perspective on emerging trends research in Asia.
True to her nomadic lifestyle, Lisa divides her time between San Francisco and Shanghai, where she continues to indulge in her keen interests in cultures, foreign languages and traveling. She aspires to publish a collection of her mother's Cantonese and Shanghainese home cooking recipes one day.
